Annual Fire School
Each year firefighters attend the Annual Fire School at A&M University. They receive 30 hours of training in such areas as Firefighting, Fire Prevention, and Rescue. Sending firefighters to this school gives the city a credit on the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule.
Members also attend area fire schools in Lubbock, Floydada, Brownfield, and others.
Hazardous Materials
Hazardous materials training is required for members of the Hazardous Materials Team. The team meets once a month to train.
The city also requires paid employees to attend certain other training each year. Defensive driving, HIV/aids training, and hazardous communications for example.
